While reading the passage about Lazarus, Mary and Martha in John 11, the thought came to me . Is God an on-time God all the time? A lot of times we all can feel discouraged or even hopeless. We turn our eyes to our Lord wanting for His full redemption. Like Mary and Martha we sometimes ask, "Where are you and why aren't you here? When will you answer?" This kind of thinking often brings disillusionment and discouragement. It seems our faith has "borders" and our understanding has limits! Martha understood Lazarus would rise again in the resurrection in the last day. But she couldn't comprehend by faith that THE resurrection and THE life NOW was standing right in front of her! Lazarus' sisters thought Jesus was late in coming to help their brother. However God is never late in anything! So "take heart and believe." God's promises and purposes WILL come to pass according to His plan and timing! "From Age to Age He Stands And Time is in His Hands The Beginning and the End..." (Tomlin)
Exodus 34:6 And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, "The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering , and abounding in goodness and truth... In this verse IS the disposition of Messiah. The early church used this important verse to judge prophecy and conduct in the church atmosphere. There were three elders who were in charge of hearing and deciding if what was said and done in that time was in the disposition of Messiah. In this very shaky and explosive time we are living in (exciting & wonderful time I might add) it would serve us well if we would write this verse on the tablet of our heart and in every circumstance, situation we find ourselves apply it rightly and justly. By doing this, we, as the body of Christ, will start looking like the "church" the public has never seen!!!
