The first type of communion mentioned in the Bible is when Abram returned from a huge victory over his enemies. Melchizedek came and they shared communion after this great victory. In verse 20 of this same passage it states that Abram gave a tithe of all to Melchizedek. The fact that Melchizedek was a king and priest is interesting that He was a foreshadowing of Messiah and the covenant available with Him. Abram`understood His covenant with God and knew that the covenant he had with God was the reason he enjoyed this great victory. In response He shared the increase with the king and priest,the type of Jesus. We also should always remember where our victories come from and in like fashion share the increase.
