For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." Rom 1:16-17. nkjv. While studying this scripture this one word, righteousness, called to me to look deeper. The Greek meaning (dikaiosune) is to do justice, make just, That God declares the believer righteous in the sense of acquitting him, imparting righteousness to him. I believe that through Christ we get to put on this garment of righteousness as we apply the blood of Christ in all the areas of our life. The key of communion is an important way to keep this activated! But looking in the Hebrew translation, where we all must go to get the true meaning of what the bible is saying, this word "righteous" translates (tsadaq) to be righteous, a pronouncement of innocence. Deeper still we find the word tsadaqah which translates righteousness revealed, which is generosity. When we as the "church" start demonstrating this righteousness, "tsadaqah" the world Will see that we really do have the answer, Jesus Christ!!! Who has been so generous with us. Oh by the way, we get a crown to cast at His feet in the process! 2Timothy 4:8
Exodus 34:6 And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, "The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering , and abounding in goodness and truth... In this verse IS the disposition of Messiah. The early church used this important verse to judge prophecy and conduct in the church atmosphere. There were three elders who were in charge of hearing and deciding if what was said and done in that time was in the disposition of Messiah. In this very shaky and explosive time we are living in (exciting & wonderful time I might add) it would serve us well if we would write this verse on the tablet of our heart and in every circumstance, situation we find ourselves apply it rightly and justly. By doing this, we, as the body of Christ, will start looking like the "church" the public has never seen!!!
