He did the same with the cup after supper saying, "This cup is the new covenant written in my blood, blood poured out for you." Luke 22:20 (The Message) When we as Christians eat the bread & drink the wine, we remind Him (God) that as His children we have rights & privileges within His Family. Communion is our reminder that we are also under covenant to walk as His children. When we are in covenant with Yahweh, we are the head & not the tail. We are sons not servants. Blessings chase us, we don't chase them. The Lord blesses those who bless us and curses those who curse us. We are in covenant with Him that everything we touch multiplies. This is our inheritance and each time we take communion these promises come back to our remembrance & strengthens our faith in His provision for us. Our covenant was struck at the Cross but it legally becomes active when we partake of the elements (bread & wine). When we take communion, we are proclaiming loudly & clearly," What then shall we say to these things? if God is for us , who can be against us?" Romans 8:31 ... YES AND AMEN!!!
Exodus 34:6 And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, "The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering , and abounding in goodness and truth... In this verse IS the disposition of Messiah. The early church used this important verse to judge prophecy and conduct in the church atmosphere. There were three elders who were in charge of hearing and deciding if what was said and done in that time was in the disposition of Messiah. In this very shaky and explosive time we are living in (exciting & wonderful time I might add) it would serve us well if we would write this verse on the tablet of our heart and in every circumstance, situation we find ourselves apply it rightly and justly. By doing this, we, as the body of Christ, will start looking like the "church" the public has never seen!!!
